Stuff White People Say

“Blacks in America should be thankful”

Filed under: Uncategorized — jwbe @ 8:52 pm

“The decendents of the slaves in America are generally far better off that the decendants of those who were not brought to America. Blacks in America should be thankful for their own personal sake that their ancestors were brought over here.”
http://marc.perkel.com/archives/000273.html

A sentiment I think many white people have, regardless in America or Europe.
The media as well as organizations which want to ‘help’ are doing a good job in keeping many stereotypes alive about Africa and Black people worldwide.
Africa the continent, portrayed as a single mess with people starving, living in huts and living next to wild animals. Africa, full of corruption, incompetent leaders and civil wars, dependend on our white help, because they just don’t get it. Whatever this “it” may be.

Wars within African nations are commented with words like bloody, bestial, showing Black people with machetes and white people are truly able to find ‘African wars’ more brutal or uncivilicized and backward. I asked somebody white German, who stated exactly this, what he thinks that is civilized with European wars and where he can discover the civilized and not so brutal part in the German holocaust. I never got an answer. Up to now no white could tell me what was civilized with dropping atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Our white wars are defined by who wins. Germany is considered among other European nations as the “most evil” nation ever, after WWII there were plans to turn Germany into an agrarian state so that Germany will never again be able to start a war. Just imagine it would have been Germany which dropped the atomic bombs and not the superpower USA.
American violence can be easily rugged under the carpet and those coming under attack and are exploited by America can be thankful for it. Like Iraq today.

Those who have the power make the definitions and define the double-standards by which ‘the world’ is judged and those in power can forget their own history. But the wealth of America today isn’t white people’s success, Lincoln didn’t act out of humanitarian reasons and the Civil War wasn’t fought to end slavery.

In the end, that America today is at least on paper something like a democracy, this wasn’t a white idea, but a political decision because of the Black pressure from within and some sort of pressure from outside. A nation which wanted to be the great liberator of Europe to free Europe of Nationalism, with Jim Crow still at home.
But that things may be better today in America doesn’t mean that they are good and that there may be a harder life somewhere else doesn’t mean that life at home isn’t hard.
Distorting reality to find a way to cope with white history as a white – this can only those people do who are on the privileged side of history and never had to live the negative consequences of their oppression. Only such people can create illusions that their victims have to be thankful.

  1. Up to now no white could tell me what was civilized with dropping atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Oh, you must have never asked that question of a White American. There’s this ready-made rationale that dropping the bomb was, indeed, the most civilized and humane thing to do because (the rationale goes) continued conventional war would have led to more casualties on both sides as if White Americans as a whole have ever been concerned about non-white deaths. You can’t even talk about thousands of dead Iraqis as a reason why the current Iraq war should be condemned as a serious public policy failure, etc.

  4. What the hell do you want? A cookie or an apple so you can give it to Macon? lmao!

And it’s just what I said… the more you open your mouth, the more you complicate things for yourself.

I guess my comment there, in that Whiteness of the Bomb thread, supports your “lurking and waiting” theory.

… you are such a rookie.

  6. @gypsy rose:

You are quite fascinating. I already stated that Macon D’s blog is a mixed bag for me, yet you continue to believe that I hate all his posts. You think that I would never acknowledge any good posts he made, but I already have, quite a few times, not on this blog, but on his blog, and he knows this.

Maybe you should rid yourself of the assumption that we all hate him for some unknown personal reason, and accept the fact that we have problems with (some of, not all of) what he writes. That would resolve the contradiction in your mind.

You call that a positive comment? You are such a troll.

    LOL

Let me guess, you think that it was a “negative” comment because Nquest, who is black, is saying something negative about whites. If Macon D made the same point about whites, you would make sure we saw it so that we could acknowledge what a good (white) antiracist he is.

  8. You call that a positive comment?

Just like a rookie… What I “called” that comment was something that complicates things for you. Simply, it does not support your “lurking and waiting” theory. Plain and simple.

I didn’t call the comment a “positive” one because I’m fresh out of cookies, rookie, and don’t make it a practice of carrying cookies around. My comment was not “negative” or an attack against Macon personally, so what we’ve just witnessed is your uncanny ability to pick out a thread where I made a post that doesn’t fit your vicariously hurt feelings.

I do admit, though, you crying about us being “down” on Macon is high entertainment.

  9. gypsy rose probably thinks it’s an attack on Macon D because your comment criticizes whites. If you’re a PoC talking about white racism, whites think it’s a personal attack.

  10. you think that it was a “negative” comment because Nquest, who is black, is saying something negative about whites.

    Oh, was that it? LMAO!

That adds a whole new quality to the entertainment value of our kindergarten friend. I guess I was such an asshole to (agree with and) add to Macon’s thought. My bad, I was supposed to applaud Macon for his “whiteness of the bomb” thread saying, “Hercules! Hercules!” Nothing else but golf claps, back pats and glowing praise will do. lol

Anyway, I see Gypsy suffers from the same mental disorder Macon does. Both act like they can’t remember the stuff that comes out of their mouths. Gypsy’s “lurking and waiting” theory suggested that we just looked for opportunities, looked for time when Macon said something we could “jump on and bitch about.”

So, Gypsy, the post I linked you to: you call that a time when I “lurked in the bushes, waiting for Macon to say something for me to jump on [him] and bitch about”…? lmao

    Entertainment. Entertainment, I say.

  11. gypsy rose probably thinks it’s an attack on Macon D because your comment criticizes whites.

No. Gypsy Rose is wandering aimlessly, tripping over his/her own feet because his/her vicarious Whiteness feels attacked via Macon.

when you believe that we are trolls, what do you think that you are? Don’t you think that it is odd that you, who admits to be sometimes prejudiced because being white in America means to be prejudiced as you say, that you try to lecture people who are effected by your white prejudices as well as Macon’s? Do you really think that you are even in the position to defend something when you don’t understand what you are trying to defend.

  13. You call that a positive comment? You are such a troll.

it seems very important for you that Macon is being praised. While I know the rules of learning and I also know about the importance of positively reinforcing certain behavior, I personally don’t see a single reason to encourage Macon to continue with his blog. He may have some good threads there, but some of his problematic threads show his true face, regardless how eager he is to hide it.
I wouldn’t have a problem with Macon if he were just honest. Honest, that he is a recovering racist on a journey towards his human soul. Such people I don’t criticize. But people who want to be experts on issues where they have no clue about and use a blog to continue whiteness and white privilege won’t get any support from me.

  15. “Up to now no white could tell me what was civilized with dropping atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.”

Let me tell you something. When the U.S. dropped those beautiful bombs on Japan they were doing the whole world a favor. They were saving CIVILIZATION. They were saving the lives of up to 1 million American servicemen and probably about 10 million Japanese. The Japaneses were on their knees begging the U.S. to drop those bombs. They were doing everything they possibly could to convince the Americans that dropping those bombs was the only option. Get your head out of your ass you fucking dilettante.
