Stuff White People Say

“Only Whites get convicted of hate crimes.”

I have to admit: I have no idea why a certain group of White people, particularly White males, really want to believe things that aren’t true.  I also have to admit how something a commenter on the Indignant White Male blog inspired me to write this post.  Another admission is that I likely misunderstood him when I responded to his statement:

Why is black on white crime never considered hate-crime?

I confused it with standard rants about hate crimes.  But no matter.  The commenters question is even more absurd.  Not only are most/all crimes intraracial in nature (meaning that most people are victimized by offenders of their own race/group) but, for some reason, people who want to stretch the concept of “hate” crimes beyond all recognition hardly ever ask, “why aren’t all crimes committed by whites considered hate-crime?”

Clearly the purpose is to take something, “hate crimes”, which Whites commit more often than other groups and turn it into something to hold against Blacks/African-Americans.  In either case, whether its the imagined idea that “only whites get charged/convicted of hate crimes” or the intellectually disingenuous, equivocating idea of suggesting that all crimes [Blacks commit, against whites at least] are “hate crimes”, we’re dealing with people who have fragile psyches who feel it is important to believe that White people are “victims.”  Victims of, in this case, being seen as the “only” people who commit hate crimes when other people do it tooa fact that they often ignore when making hyperbolic statements like the one that serves as the title for this thread.

The irony of it all is: a lot of the times these are the very people who regurgitate the idea that Black people have a “victim” mentality.  But, in a society that privileges White anger/resentment, being White and “playing the victim” apparently isn’t a bad thing.

PS:  The “why is black on white crime never considered hate-crime?” argument is, apparently, an attempt to to recast the “only whites get convicted of hate crimes” argument which never could make Whites the kind of “victims” some people need them to be.

  1. 9/11 was a tragedy but mostly white America’s hysterical over-reaction to it clearly shows the irrational mind-set behind. A mind-set which sets standards for some presidents so low that even somebody like Palin is an option. I think this tells a lot about the people still supporting Republicans.
But like the war against Iraq, it seems to be easier to cope with the death of thousands of innocent people and to believe that America is the greatest nation on earth and so good to all of the rest of the world than facing the truth. Those telling the truth like Rev. Jeremiah Wright are the “hate-mongers” or “racists” according to them.
    I don’t know

  2. You know, now that you bring it up, Rev. Wright and the Iraqi dead, innocent people killed in the tens of thousands are a perfect example of both White people’s fragile psyche when it comes to “crimes” Whites commit/condone and the “victim” mentality so many Whites are quick to embrace.

  3. Wow! Nice hate site you have here!

  4. Mike, when you consider this to be a hate site, come up with your reasons how you came to that conclusion

  5. WOW!!! The irony is too thick (and funny) to me. Who would have ever imagined a 5-months old thread addressing a common statement/question about *HATE* crimes would draw a comment, not about this thread, but about the site, excuse me *HATE*, we have here.

Mike, apparently, is an out-of-work comedian.

But I guess he makes a good suggestion. We need place, a thread, where our drive-by commenters can posts their general impressions and other non-topic related thoughts. That way Mike won’t look as if he’s trying (i.e. faking) so hard.

  6. You’re wrong, black on white crime, which is very prevalent, is never prosecuted under hate crime legislation. There were
You say it is, but you don’t understand the purpose of the law or provide examples to back up your ridiculous lies.

You should be deeply ashamed of yourself, as should all other white and black people who willingly believe in lies that are so easily uncovered, you’re a pathetic excuse for a human! I spit on your grave!

Let’s look at a couple of examples for your ignorant ass to look at
Christian/Newsome Savage African Rape/Torture/Murder (not a hate crime, you f’ing retard)

    and a counter example
Two college kids drop cotton balls in front of a ‘black center’ at college (hate crime, is this getting through you’re brainwashed little mind?)

  7. Nall. Your two examples don’t mean that black people “by and large” don’t get convicted of hate crimes. Keep trying though. Quickly resorting to insults is a good way to make your arguments seem less than serious, btw. If they weren’t reported than that F.B.I. site (which you’ll probably call a liberal white guilt one, since it doesn’t help your case) she linked would have ZERO under Black-on-White Crimes.

    Facts don’t lie.

  8. There have been dozens of black-on-white hate crimes in just the past 10 years that haven’t been prosecuted as such. Every time evidence comes out that a black person killed a while person simply because of the color of their skin, it is swept under the rug by politically-motivated authorities. We’re supposed to feel guilty about something that happened long before we were born yet we’re subjected to violence on a daily basis from the black community just because of the color of our skin. You keep pretending like your race is superior while it commits atrocities on a daily basis against people living their lives peacefully. And now you’ve got an audience to spread your hate with online.

  9. There are example after example of crimes committed by blacks against whites but no national news coverage, our pres doesn’t stand up and talk about the victim. There is no political value in a white victim. (unless of course he can parade relatives and parents for furthering his political agenda) Yet when it is mentioned the person mentioning it is hounded by blacks and wanna be black whites and media as being racist. Their questions are not answered but drown out by yammering opposition. I personally think race is pushed into conflict by our media and government to keep us all under control. Better to run the country with it’s people fighting each other than paying attention to what our “leaders” are doing. We need to stop the division of America and get our country back from politicians who no longer represent us but rule us. Drop race from job applications, education applications, no more programs that shower benefits we can no longer afford on people because of the color of their skin. You get what you get from your own work and abilities as it should be.

  10. wtf was that? You said nothing, in a lot of words.

To top it off, you never really delved into if a black on white crime can be, or should be considered a hate crime.

    So what is it, exactly?

  11. […] That ‘hate’ is affliction all-but exclusively confined to straight, non-Hispanic white males. […]

  12. Curiously, interracial violent (read: not property crime) crime between whites and blacks is overwhelmingly black crime against white victims. We shouldn’t talk about that though. That’s uncomfortable. Let’s talk about how badly black people are treated instead, because that’s more fun.
